Ive noticed that there has been an increase in adaptions, sequels, prequels, remakes(the worst of all), and reboots. I rarely ever see an original idea. Do you think Hollywood is running out of original ideas and relying on adaptions, sequels and remakes?|||Yes. I really do. I think it's why famous TV shows are being remaked, same with shows and books.
Some have original ideas but since they're actually original and not something ripped off or remade they're put straight to DVD or given a 'limited release' to the theaters so people barely get to see it.
I say this because just about any movie that did well, has a cult following, or anything like that is being remade. So a lot of films are being remade.
I hate that people who ***** about the remakes are considered 'negative' we're not negative we're just tired of the same watered down remakes, we're tired that there is nothing original coming out anymore.
Good, origonal, well written, well cast films are far and few in between.|||Hollywood is, and has always been, big business. The purpose of any business is to make money.
Once, a long, long time ago, people believed that businesses provided goods, services, and even entertainment, but then came Ronald Reagan, and profit took precedence over all things in the world.
Hollywood is given new, fresh ideas every single day, but rejects most of them because they fear that they may offend someone who will start a letter campaign, like right-wing religious people do, or that they'll lose money, or not make enough of it.
That's why we keep seeing thse tepid CGI-laden crapfests like "Tranformers 2' and "BM: The Dark Knight."|||yeah, they ran out a long time ago. the adaptions sequels, prequels, and remakes are becoming really horrible. seems like they make every other book into a movie.
For instance, Transformers 2 was a horrible movie in my opinion. It had some really funny parts, and some really good explosions, but if you take that out...you got nothing. a lot of the things in the movie do not add up at all.
Why dont they take some information from fans and make a movie from that, maybe a vote or something. at least it would be something new for us.|||Panama Joe - I love what you said and you are so right! As a former William Morris Agent, I know that wonderful scripts came in (some solicited and some not), and they were written well, had substance and the possibility of a variety of cast who would have, in my opinion, done an excellent job in acting, BUT producers and directors, studio bosses, like you said, are often not willing to take a chance and move from the norm. Remember 'The Color Purple' - an excellent movie that should have won awards - but did not.
People are afraid to touch on truths. We have to explain so much prior to and after for 'why' things are done. People are offended so easily. But the truth has to be told.
Personally, I am still happy to read good books. I was born in the era where movies, film, video and Gameboys did not rule the world. Children were given an opportunity to create their own images. Today, everything has to be done for you.
I'd love to see more movies made from good literature. The plots are all the same these days.|||Hollywood isn't willing to take chances. They want forsure things. So when they make a movie that already has a following they know its a forsure buck in there pockets.
Check out the movie District 9 that's coming its a pretty original story thats coming out, also check out the movie Moon.|||oh yeah definitely. the most original film i think i've seen is juno that was brilliant. i think they need to get some new people in new writers and stuff. i think advertising has gone down the drain completely have you seen the state of most of the ads on tv now? awful utterly awful.|||yes and they have been for years.
nobody really cares if they butcher the remakes, etc until they mess up one of their favorites and all of the sudden 'its ridiculous! how are they going to remake _____!?' hollywood sucks...|||I dont really care, if i enjoy watching a film, thats all i care about, i hate critics who come out with these comments, they pretend to know it all but actually know sweet FA!|||They ran out of new ideas decades a go.
