What did the Hollywood and Highlands Center used to be?

I was just hanging out around Hollywood and Highlands, and wondered what the complex used to be before it was constructed. The Chinese Theatre, El Capitan; I remember those during the 90s, but I don't remember what was in place of the Hollywood and Highlands Center. Thanks.|||A delightfully gritty part of LA where unique individuals and hookers hung out. It is so sanitized now it could be any mall in the US.|||I think it was just an office building with a bank. Nothing too memorable, or I would have remembered it, like I remember way long ago the drugstore that was on the southwest corner.
