What do you think of when you think of old vintage hollywood?

I'm doing a concept board for my interior design class. I want my influence for this board to be old hollywood vintage Marilyn Monroe or the first Playboy issues. What type of things (black and white, silk, pearls.) What do you think of when you think of old hollywood?|||Do you mean what are the images of Old Hollywood that come to my mind or what do I imagine the interior design to be at that time?

Old Hollywood was glamour without gaudiness.

For interiors, sumptuous fabrics ( brocade, bullion fringe, crushed velvet ), padded headboards on the beds, a round bed with satin sheets, thick carpeting but not shag, fresh flowers, a fainting couch/chaise in a rich fabric.

As for the images that come to my mind about Old Hollywood:

Hostess dresses. Back in the day women dressed so much more elegantly than we do now.

Here's an image of a hostess dress on an Old hollywood legend, Lucille Ball.

Nowadays, no woman is going to put on something that fabulous with the beautiful diaphanous fabric and host a dinner party. Back in the day, they did. Add some over-the-top rhinestone jewelry, a bouquet of fresh roses on the dinner table and you have Old Hollywood come to life.

Mules on her feet with maribou feathers. Ahhh what a picture!

This image of Lucy screams Old Hollywood, too. The Art Deco padded shell shape in the background. The feathers on her shoulders.

Everyone thinks she was just a kooky redhead. Goggle images of Lucille Ball. She was quite beautiful and embodied that glamour of Old Hollywood. If you can find the "I Love Lucy" episodes from when they went to California she has on this FABULOUS set of hostess pajamas. The fabric is just beautiful and the fashion design was so forward thinking for its' time. So glam!!|||No one has mentioned mirrors. Mirrored furniture, especially.

Torchieres. Interesting moldings, on doors especially in the 1940s.

Plants, palms and succulents.

White furniture, blond furniture, lacquered furniture.

Look at a few Astaire movies on You Tube.

Joan Crawford movies.

You have to decide what decade you want to focus on ...

the 50s, 40s, 30s, all were different in style.|||White Mink stoles or boa's, long cigarette holders, bleached blond hair for women with bright red lip stick, oiled black hair for men in suites (with mustaches - :) ) oh you defiantly have my imagination going now.|||Pure glamour!

Visit www.moviegoods.com for posters, music album covers etc.

They'll give you much inspiration.

M Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbara Stanwick.|||Yes, marilyn monroe is a possibility|||old movie reels
