what do you think about if at all?|||There are two very different "Hollywoods."
One is the actual city of Hollywood, which is..... meh. It's gone through a major renovation in recent years and is less seedy than when I was little (90s), but it's still grimy, artificial and completely unglamorous. The only time stars hang out there is when they are at a premiere at the Chinese Theater, at the Oscars, or getting a star on the walk of fame. If you just hang there on a Tuesday afternoon you're gonna be with a ton of tourists and people dressed up as Spider Man %26amp; Harry Potter trying to get you to give them $ to be in a picture with them. There is only one major studio there - Paramount, and it's the prettiest of the lots, but you can't just roam around there. I think they do let you take tours...
The area surrounding it is not that thrilling. It isn't within easy walking distance from the Walk of Fame, either.
All that being said, I always recommend that people check it out when they're in town. You just HAVE to go on the Walk of Fame. Go to the Hollywood %26amp; Highland center, check out the Kodak theater, meander up %26amp; down the walk of fame, and take pictures of the Hollywood sign, have dinner at the Geisha House %26amp; then mosey on to a prettier part of town.
The other "Hollywood" sums up the whole of the wacky LA entertainment industry, and includes everyone from Brad %26amp; Angelina, to the American Idol contestants who are "going to Hollywood" to the wannabes from Iowa who are out here waiting tables while trying to get their big break. I grew up here %26amp; a ton of my friend's parents are in the industry, so this surreal reality is the only one I've ever known... It's not as glamourous as outsiders think it is, but it is kinda cool.
It's definitely an original.
I just checked back %26amp; saw the part you added about the glamour side of Hollywood. It honestly isn't as awesome as you might think. Celebs have no privacy, and their every move is critiqued. Their kids have to deal with insanely aggressive paparazzi %26amp; always have to wonder if their friends are genuine. There are other ways to make your mark on the world and do well for yourself.
This is my favorite "Hollywood"

You can get your groove on to it. : )|||Just ignore the obvious and focus your attention on the pseudo-images.
I only go there when I absolutely have to go there. Otherwise i avoid it like the plague it is.|||Hollywood to me, is like "OZ" in the wizard of OZ, it's a surrealistic land, of strange inhabitants. Hoollywood is phoney, but thats ok, entertainers are a ego and vanity driven type of people, so what do you exspect, they demand privacy, but crave to be famous, they seek privacy, but perform bizzare social behavior in public. It's a very yn-real lifestyle and world, that sometimes we like to see how wierd people live, and somehow it makes our lives seem safer and normal, I guess, I'm not into Hollywood goings on, I really don't care about any stars personal life, just make good movies, and keep out of politics, scandals and any press is good press mentality.
