When did the era of hard working Hollywood actors come to an end and pretty face with no talent era began?

Back in the old days of Hollywood, an actor needed to be good at singing, dancing, drama and comedy all at the same time or else they did not stand a chance to make it unless they had a unique physical ugliness that could be used for horror or sci-fy films.

Today is all about marketing a popular face that usually has no talent or their abilities are nothing in comparison to the old days.|||What movies have you been watching?

There are plenty of "classic" actors still out there. Hugh Jackman, Ewan Mcgreggor, Neil Patrick Harris, Emma Stone,

So Christian Bale has no talent? Russell Crow has no talent? Jeremy Renner has no talent? Colin Ferrel has no talent? Uma Thurman has no talent?

Just because you prefer over acting to real solid performances doesn't mean the performers are any worse, it means you have a taste in a different style of acting.|||Well how many people still watch play's? But yah I totally agree talent went down the drain after the 70's for the most part. I feel that there are still good movies out their they are just ridiculously hard to find. Try foreign film's that's all i watch now and they still maintain talent.|||Probably when all the talented actors got high and mighty and stopped agreeing to sleep with the powers that be. A real shame that talent isn't king. And now it's happening in literature, too, with bad authors (can you say "Stephenie Meyer?") actually making tons of money. (Though, I don't think any powers that be are sleeping with her...who knows what cosmic glitch caused that phenomenon.)

At least it gives us untalented folks some hope. ;-)

If you know anyone who's read Twilight, they simple must read TwiLITE A Parody by Sue Knott. It's hysterical. You can get it at scribd:

or for the kindle:

When Miley Cyrus became a pop star/"actress".

When Lady GaGa became a platinum selling "artist"

When Katy Perry failed as a country singer but made it big as a pop star.|||Robert De Niro and Samuel L Jackson would agree to disagree|||John Wayne and Gary Cooper...singing and dancing?..I find the thought disturbing.
