What is the difference between Hollywood and Broadway? And which is bigger to the world?

For someone who is an aspiring actor/actress, what difference does it make to choose between Hollywood and Broadway?|||Good Luck|||I'm trying to think of a quote from a movie or something that I saw. It was about the interaction between actor and audience when you act onstage, versus acting for a camera.

On Broadway, you'd be singing and dancing and acting. Every night you'd be performing the same stuff, the same character to an audience. You'd be acting for real people, and telling your message to real people.

In Hollywood, you'd basically be acting. There aren't too many musicals out, even though they are being made more again. Just in case singing and dancing are your thing. You'd act to a camera. And if you messed up, you could go back and fix it.

Broadway and Hollywood are both big. Broadway sometimes becomes Hollywood. Broadway stars make tv shows and movies.

If it's a fame thing you want, you could excel or fail in either one. It's about taking chances and living your dreams.|||In Broadway, you have to be able to sing, dance, and act. And stage acting is much different, much bigger than film acting. Not to mention, you're never really going to "make it"on Broadway. You can win a Tony and go right back to the unemployment line. And you are never going to be rich. That's just the life, honey. And they call Hollywood "Hollyweird" for a reason. Its a totally different world. There's a lot more about looks, not to mention you can actually become a quote on quote "star,"making obscene amounts for one film.

If you want to become famous, go for Hollywood. People will never know your name on Broadway. But if you want to be special, one of a kind, irreplacable, just don't become an actress. Its a tough road, but somebody's gotta walk it!

Good luck!|||Hollywood=Film

Broadway=Stage

Its just depends on what you like more, its a style thing...subtle acting with camaras(recorded) or exaggerated acting on a stage(live). There are so so many different aspects that go into the two. One isn't better than the other, they are just very different. However, Hollywood is more known to the world, because it is recorded, not live, so anyone, regardless of their budget, can have the opportunity to see it. All they have to do is rent it. Stage, on the other hand is a little more difficult to come by. Not just everyone has the money to spend $200 dollars to see a Broadway show.

Hope I Helped! Break A Leg! :)|||Not every Broadway show is a musical.

Hollywood may make your name more well known and it may make more money (then again it may not) but there are plenty of actors on Broadway who prefer the magic of the live theatre than they do acting on the screen (and all the Hollywood phony crap that goes along with it.)

It take way more actual talent to make it in live theatre, Look at all the people in the movies these days who can't actually act their way out of a paper bag. Most of them would never last one week on stage.
