Serious earthquakes only happen about once every two or three decades. And even then the odds are that you won't be near the epicenter...
Basically, L.A. has two types of weather: normal (sunny), and the rainy season.
Yes, it does rain in L.A. Not much, but when it rains, it tends to pour. The rain usually starts around late December, peaks in January %26amp; February, then tapers off in March. The rest of the year is dry. The temperature differs from day to day (usually from mild to hot), but that's about it.
The rain won't cause any serious problems unless you live in the hills. Then it can cause mudslides. (Don't worry, you probably won't be able to afford that - since the hills are where the wealthy prefer to live.)
90% of the time, the temperatures are between 65 and 82 - most often in the 70's. You don't need a coat or sweater very often. Except at night. L.A. tends to have cool/cold nights, compared to its daytime temps. That can be a bit surprising if you don't see it coming. If you go out during the day and plan to stay until after dark, bring along a light sweater.
The weather is just about perfect in the Spring (May and June are sublime). It gets hot in Summer and by the time late August and September roll around it's usually too hot (for me, anyway). Then it cools down again in time for the holidays.
No snow, of course, unless you live drive up to a mountain ski resort.|||good question~~

I think I felt one 2/3 years ago-the house just shook a little for a few seconds and then it was over. The last big big one was 1994 but since then nothing dramatic.

On the coast it's cooler and windy, inland it's HOT in summertime and rainy in winter.
No storms to speak of, just rainy rain. Oh, and mud slides, forest fires, and earthquakes.
